COOKIES POLICY
1. Cookies definition
"Cookies" are small files with information that a website (specifically the web server) stores on a user's computer/tablet/mobile phone, so that each time the user connects to the website, the latter can retrieve said information and offer the user related services. A typical example of such information is the user's preferences on a Website, as indicated by the choices the user makes on that Website (e.g. selection of specific "buttons", searches, advertisements, etc.).
2. Legal frame for Cookies
Cookies are governed by the e-privacy Directive 2002/58/EC as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC (which has been incorporated into Greek Law by Law 3471/2006), as expressly provided for in the 2016/679 General Data Protection Regulation (Recital 173 GDPR).
According to current law and based on the still applicable Law 3471/2006 (Article 4 par. 5 of this Law, as replaced by Article 170 of the Law 4070/2012): "The storage of information or the acquisition of access to already stored information in the terminal equipment of a subscriber or user is only permitted if the specific subscriber or user has given his / her consent, after clear and extensive information….. The subscriber or user's consent can be given through appropriate settings in the web browser or through another application.
The above does not prevent any technical storage or access, the exclusive purpose of which is to carry out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network or which is necessary for the provision of an information society service, which the user or subscriber has explicitly requested..."
Therefore, during the user's first visit to the Website of ELASTRON S.A., a pop-up window appears, where the visiting user can declare his consent to the installation of the cookies that are specifically mentioned and these are non-functional cookies that aim to improve the services presented on the Website, such as: The user's rating or evaluation of the services, the connection to social media, the configuration of parameters on audio and video playback devices adapting the information to the user's personal preferences, statistical analysis cookies (web analytics) regarding the number of visitors to the Website and the number of pages viewed, without direct identification of the user, advertising cookies that collect information for advertising purposes and themes on the Internet, which fall into certain general categories or areas of interest of the user, by examining the websites he views and the links he selects on other websites, as well as the electronic messages from the Website he opens and the links he selects from them, selecting advertisements, based on data that do not permit the direct identification of the user.
3. Which Cookies are installed
Α. With your consent
B. Without your consent
There are "cookies" that have been assessed as technically-functionally necessary for the connection to our Website or for the provision of the Internet service in general. For these, the Law does not require prior consent. These are, as stated in the former Wp29 Opinion 4/2012 (now EDPB):
1) Cookies that are necessary for the recognition and/or retention of content entered by the subscriber or user during a connection (session cookies) to the Website, throughout the duration of that specific connection, e.g. such cookies are generally necessary when the user completes an electronic form. The same category also includes "persistent cookies" which are installed for the same purpose and last for a period of several hours.
2) Cookies that are installed for the purpose of subscriber or user security, such as for example "cookies" that detect repeated failed attempts to log into a user's account on a specific website or in an "environment".
3) Cookies with multimedia content, such as flash player cookies, during a session on a website. Such are, for example, cookies that are installed by viewing a video available on the website that the user has visited.
4) Cookies that are necessary for the implementation of the load balancing technique on a connection to the Website.
5) Cookies that "recall" the user's choices, regarding the presentation of the website, e.g. cookies related to the choice of language or the presentation of search results.
6) "Cookies" that are installed through additional programs (plug ins) on social networking websites and relate to the sharing of content between certified members who have already logged in.
4. Cookies control
